Training

Over 850 engineers have completed VPI industry training programs, which combine lectures from experts in photonic design and optimization principles; guided software tours; and hands on exercises using VPIphotonics optical design tools.

Application scenarios cover the design of long-haul and Metro WDM systems, optical access and Radio-over-Fiber systems, active devices and circuits, doped-fiber lasers and amplifiers as well as the optimization of Raman pumps for wideband amplification. Topics include fiber dispersion and compensation techniques, nonlinear fiber impairments (SPM, XPM, FWM, SRS), PMD and estimation of BER, Q-factor, eye-closure penalty.
