VPItransmissionMaker™ & VPIcomponentMaker™ Version 8.3
VPItransmissionMaker/VPIcomponentMaker Version 8.3 provides many new modeling features, improved usability and advances in design process and data analysis.
Version 8.3 offers enhanced capabilities for signal synchronization and BER estimation of systems with multilevel modulation formats, or operating in burst mode. To address the latest research and development interests, significant modeling advances for fiber gratings, EAMs, PMD emulators, and components with nonlinear transfer characteristics are also provided. Among the advances in the product's usability are the new Search and Quick Find functionalities that allow you to locate easily modules and designs in standard and user-defined libraries.
VPItransmissionMaker™Optical Systems has been enhanced to support the simulation of power dynamics in EDFA-based fiber networks, including the study of mesh networks with complex topology. It addresses important simulation tasks, such as
- Design of optical amplifiers, their control circuitry and software algorithms to mitigate power crosstalks between WDM channels and diminish transient response.
- Analysis of power transient propagation in a mesh network. The transients may be caused by the network re-configuration, packet switching, cable damage, etc.
- Estimation of requirements for various network elements to operate in non-stationary power conditions (such as clock recovery and dispersion management modules, receivers, equalizers), especially for burst-mode networking.
To accomplish this, various new functionalities and usability enhancements have been introduced in version 8.3.
Power Transient Analysis: power dynamics of four channels after five spans (top), User control for the generation of bursts (bottom).
