Optical Amplifier Dynamics

This can affect amplified WDM networks dramatically, because each amplifier's gain and gain spectrum is dependent on its input signal loading, and changes to its input conditions can cause transient effects such as peaks in output power.
2. VPItransmissionMaker™ WDM includes dynamic modeling of EDFAs, together with optical switches and methods of generating control waveforms.
3. The dynamic models can be used to investigate transient effects in WDM systems, and to investigate optical and electronic control schemes.
