Mean Field Simulation Method
VPI's award-winning multiple-signal representations have been designed to support nonlinear simulations of long-haul fiber systems using efficient numerical methods.
The Mean-Field simulation method (co-developed by VPI founders) realizes that channels well away from the channel of interest have little effect through Four-Wave-Mixing (FWM).
Channels nearest to the channel of interest are represented by a single sampled band, while channels away from the channel of interest are represented by their statistics, eg. mean signal and noise powers, so they contribute to amplifier saturation and receiver noise.
Automated wizards allow you to set up simulations using the Mean-Field method.
