DWDM CATV System

1. This system provides a broadband return channel using a high-speed analog to digital converter to turn five subcarrier-multiplexed channels into a single digital channel.
2. The system combines the advantages of subcarrier-multiplexing (easy demultiplexing) with those of digital transmission over a fiber (long reach).
3. VPItransmissionMaker™ provides a wide range of electrical signal processing modules with which to implement novel coding and decoding schemes in the same simulation as a detailed optical channel model.
4. The effects of impairments in the fiber channel can be studied in combination with electronic signal processing in order to optimixe across the electrical/optical analog/digital domains.
