VPIphotonics – Raman Amplifiers

  • 81 nm Distributed Raman Amplifier with Multiple Pumps

Demonstrates a gain-flattened Raman amplifier using eight pumps, with a bandwidth of 81 nm. The pumps strongly interact in the fiber. Thus, their powers are adjusted to compensate for this interaction.

  • Optimization of a Discrete Fiber Raman Amplifier

Shows the automatic optimization of a 12-pump Raman amplifier to give 0.2 dB ripple over an 80-nm bandwidth (1527 nm-1607 nm). The optimization can be performed for uni- and bi-directional pumping. The gain goal can be non-flat for pre-emphasis.
